Whilst it is possible to collect regional data on many economic indicators, a regional breakdown of 'green' indicators are harder to come by. For the STRING region, a set of green indicators to measure and report on, is agreed upon by the partners, as seen in the graphs above.
Such indicators balance available statistics with what will provide us with the best overall picture of the green development in the region.
The indicators are also developed in order to reflect and follow up on the initiatives and projects presented in the STRING Green Growth Strategy, which was published in 2013.
In general, the indicators show that the STRING area is performing well and that the development moves in the right direction towards a more sustainable society. For many of the indicators, the STRING region performs better than the three individual nations. This holds for the indicators for waste generated per capita and for the carbon footprint indicator. Only one indicator performs poorly, which is the indicator for material productivity.
