What will Northern Europe live off in the future?

Digital OECD-STRING conference, November 17th 2020

Registration closed

You are invited to participate at the digital conference ’What will Northern Europe live off in the future?’, held by the OECD and STRING  from 09:00-12:00. The conference will present how the OECD and the Swedish members of the political membership organisation STRING see Northern Europe becoming a green megaregion, world leading in green technologies and sustainable infrastructure.

The cooperation between the OECD and STRING will result in a strategic report on concrete political recommendations to shape a megaregion between Oslo and Hamburg. The conference speakers will use their expertise to influence this. Equally, all participants will get a unique opportunity to provide input on the forthcoming policy recommendations that will shape the future of Northern Europe.

Conference programme:

The conference will be moderated by Connie Hedegaard, Chairman of the Board of environmental think tank CONCITO, and former European Commissioner for Climate Action.

The conference will open at 09.00 with a short welcome by Axel Josefson, Mayor of the City of Gothenburg; Kristina Jonäng, Member of regional executive board, Region Västra Götaland, and Soo-Jin Kim, Head of Urban Policies and Reviews at the OECD.

These will be shaped by four national conferences in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Germany in November 2020, where national stakeholders will gather to have their say.
